If you like trains and appreciate history and culture, then our Isle of Man Guided Railway Tours could be just the ticket!  You can savour a mixture of them all!

The Isle of Man is famous for having some of the world’s most iconic steam and electric railways, providing Island visitors (and a fair few Islanders, too!) with a unique opportunity, not only to travel back in time, but to witness some of the most spectacular scenery the Isle of Man has to offer.

These enlightening and inspirational Guided Railway Tours, hosted by local historian, heritage expert and registered Blue Badge Guide Chris Callow, offer a wealth of insight into the Island’s colourful past.  Please note, for any French visitors, Chris spent 7 years running a ski chalet in the French Alps, so he’ll be able to converse in French!

To give you a flavour of what awaits,

Day 1 - you’ll be departing on the 9.50am Steam Railway service from Douglas station to Castletown. There, you’ll disembark for a walk into Castletown’s centre, to include a guided tour of Castle Rushen. After lunch, it’s off on the next leg of the rail journey, to Port Erin (including a trip to the Railway Museum) before the return trip to Douglas.

Day 2 -  includes visits to Tynwald at St Johns, the House of Manannan,  Peel Castle, and the Fynoderee Distillery in Ramsey, followed by a leisurely journey back to Douglas on the Manx Electric Railway.

Day 3 - , you’ll be treated to a trip on the Manx Electric Railway (MER) to Laxey, prior to changing onto the Snaefell Mountain Railway, which takes you to the Snaefell summit – the highest point of the Island at just over 2000 feet.  Returning to Laxey, you can look forward to a guided tour of the Laxey Wheel and the Mines Trail, before taking the MER back to Douglas.

Day 4  is departure day.
